Dear Aquatic Club and Lesson participants:   In the current climate I thought it was best to forward this e-mail to you all. If you do not already have a visitors parking permit, you may obtain one at the guard booth as you enter the North Avenue Gate.   Where there is no specific threat, the Campus Safety Director feels these measures are prudent.

Regards,   Nick Cavataro

Subject: Heightened Security Measures - Montgomery Gate
Importance: High

To all members of the Iona Community :

The Department of Homeland Security, in consultation with the Homeland Security Council, has made the decision to raise the national threat level from an  "elevated"  to  "high"  risk of terrorist attack: level  orange.  The Intelligence Community believes that terrorists may attempt multiple attacks against the  U.S.and  coalition targets worldwide in the event of a U.S led military campaign against
Iraq.

As a result, Iona College  will re-institute the heightened security measures developed to respond to a Homeland Security Advisory Level Orange or Red.  One of these provisions involves limiting access to the campus by securing the Montgomery Gate.  This gate will be closed from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.during normal class schedules and will be locked during Spring recess, March 18 - 21, 2003.  This gate will be opened for vehicles to exit at the end of evening classes.  Additionally, every vehicle entering campus must display a parking permit. If you need to obtain a parking permit, please contact Campus Safety and Security at (914) 633-2245.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation during these difficult times.
